In order to combine the function and aesthetics of green walls with the benefits in terms of building physics, a variety of research initiatives are required. This PhD thesis develops a monitoring system for green walls in order to quantify and evaluate the building physics influences for both the interior and the exterior. The focus is on the development of novel as well as adaptive irrigation and execution systems. Based on this, a numerical model for the evaluation of seasonal and thus vegetation period-dependent building physics processes in indoor and outdoor spaces is developed and validated.
