Design of urban habitats for humans, flora and fauna
In 2023, things got wild!
With "the wild climate wall" and the "BioDiv façade“, two innovative green façade systems for humans, flora and fauna were completed in 2023. The green façade system supports not only climate-regulating functions, the healthy growth of heterogeneous plant populations as well as increasing the structural wealth in order to create quality habitats for birds, insects and bats.
Approximately 200 m² of an existing façade on the Fraunhofer campus in Stuttgart were greened. The project is carried out in cooperation with the Institute forLandscape Planning and Ecology (ILPÖ) of the University of Stuttgart and Helix Pflanzensysteme GmbH and supported by the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics, IBP.
